FSCPM: Female Students Campus Placement Mission

FSCPM: Female Students Campus Placement Mission

Goal: A Project providing Employability to 1000 Women Graduates of JNTU affiliated Colleges.

To empower the women IT students by imparting required Industry Grade Technical and Soft skills, Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG) in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University (JNTU) took up this as a pilot project. 1000 woman students from CSE, IT & ECE, best five from each of the 200 Engineering Colleges are selected for implementation of this project.

25 JNTU affiliated Engineering Colleges, with a minimum of one per district, will be selected as Centers of Excellence known as Jawahar Knowledge Centers(JKCs) for implementation of this project. Every college will be allotted forty women students for this project. IEG will recruit 200 graduates, train them vigorously for three months in industry Grade IT skills and expose them to various e-governance initiatives of Andhra Pradesh to impart the required skills to the women students in all the 25 centers. These 200 trained experts will be posted to all JKCs at the rate of 8 per JKC with a student to teacher ratio 5:1 to handhold and train teams of 5.

Content and Instructon: Freshers rarely get an opportunity to interact with the Industry and absorb the Industry Grade skills, Practices, technologies and Tools. IEG will pool the best quality expertise fom the College, University and Industry to prepare the content and conduct the training in JKCs with that content using its trained mentors. The content would be a total of 760 hours out of which 150 hours of Technical/Tool skills. The students will be given a Year long training in the 25 JKCs as per the normal schedule of the University. The students will be trained with these "Industry Grade Skills" for the full year in addition to the normal academic programme.

Projects: Only an insignificant percentage of projects(less than 1%) are live and realistic. Consequently, almost all the College projects are not resulting in any useful experience to the students. Even fewer are from the government sector: The potential for government project is very large. 200 mini projects will be done by the groups during this first 6 months. These may include development of web sites to all the participating affiliated colleges of JNTU or developing services of common use in colleges. in the last six months these 1000 students will take up 100 e-governance projects, 75 Acdemic projects and 25 Industry selected projects. the projects will be defined by potential clientele. District Developmental officials will interact with students and professional Expert Trainees (PET) in the formulation of e-governance projects which will be implemented by students.

Interaction with Industry: Also, the industry officials will be interacting with women students and PETs to share their know-how, recent trends in technology, tools and their experiences.

Campus Placements: Midway through the project, i.e Second Semester, campus interviews are conducted to the 1000 candidates as well as the other students in the 25 hosting colleges.
