Research Facilities:
Institute always provides all the necessary infrastructural facilities, financial support (seed money for in-house R&D projects) and conducive environment to carryout research. The facilities to conduct the research is continuously procured either through seed money in the name of internal R & D or through funded agencies or through a separate budget. Improvement of research facilities has led to the recognition of research centers by the affiliating university.
Research Centres and Centres of Excellence
They act as platforms to conduct research activities by the faculty and the students in the form of project works.
- Departments are encouraged to get recognized by the affiliating university as Research Centre with PhD scholars being admitted and making sustained efforts for fruitful research outcomes.
- Institute provides necessary facilities required to carry out the non-funded research work in the research centers.
- Relevant efforts are made by each department to excel in one focused area and get recognized as ‘Center of Excellence’. The institute supports in this process through research funds.
Innovation and Incubation Centre
Incubation Centre of the college endeavours to enable the young minds to transform their innovative ideas with multidisciplinary expertise into viable business propositions which serve the local problems also. The primary objectives of the Incubation Centre are:
- To create physical infrastructures, space and support systems necessary for business incubation activities.
- To facilitate networking with professional resources, which include mentors, experts, consultants and advisors for the incubate companies.
- To introduce new value added courses and conduct workshops and training programs that promotes students towards innovation and entrepreneurship.
- To provide links to higher education resources that help promote and facilitate knowledge creation, innovation and entrepreneurship activities.
- To award new and innovative ideas and reward participation in commercialization of product.
Seed Money Funding for Research
Faculty members are motivated to submit the project proposals at the beginning of every academic year, to render a shape to their innovative idea. All the proposals are scrutinized by research advisory committee and feasible proposals are approved by granting seed money from in-house R&D budget.
- The seed funding is the system in which faculty are encouraged to undertake research with certain basic grant released by the institution to procure new equipment /instruments, etc or to meet expenses on fabrication.
- The very concept or process is to offer a fundamental hand-holding in research in order that the faculty expand their proposal and obtain funded projects.
- In addition, Student projects leading to innovative model development are financially supported either partially or fully based on the quality of the project.
- Separate budgetary proposal are made to meet the above financial requirements in the form of ‘Seed Funding for Research’/In house R&D project.
Intellectual Property Rights
The college aims at strengthening its research leading to filing patents.
- Submission of Patent application to the relevant registry by the faculty and/or students
- Incorporating Institutional affiliation in mandatory for submission of Patent claims/proposals either to Indian offices or to overseas establishments/registries.
- Patent filing by research in rewarded.
- In case of Commercialization of the patent, the revenue so generated is shared by the college and the Researcher on a ratio fixed from time to time.
Incentives for promoting Research
The institute encourages quality research in different fields of engineering and in particular, the thrust areas identified by the departments. As part of this, the quality research work done by faculty, scholars and students is recognized and the institute prepared a scheme for providing incentives to quality research publications and involvement in sponsored projects and other related research activities. It also allows faculty to visit industries, research centers, conferences and symposiums, either to enhance their interaction with external world or to know latest trends in technology or to get ideas from them.
